Foyer Lighting Sets the Tone for the Rest of Your Home
From a designer’s point of view, there is nothing worse than visiting someone’s home during the evening hours only to be greeted by an uninviting entryway. While a clean coat of paint on the walls or a complete refinishing of the floors are great ways to change the look of a foyer, these can be costly and time consuming. Instead, simply change the foyer lighting so it provides a dramatic look for your guests and establishes a proper flow from one room to the next in your home. One of the best things about changing your foyer lighting is that you will be given a huge variety of different lighting options to choose from – from the grandest of chandeliers to the most subtle of seamless ceiling lamps. Whatever you decide to choose should completely be your own choice, but be sure to not add a lamp which is too overbearing or include light bulbs which are as bright as the sun. Both of those additions will simply negate any of the benefits you may have received from changing your lighting.
One of the standard additions to foyer lighting is the flush mounted light fixture or the semi-flush mounted light fixture. As far as lighting goes, these two types of fixture are excellent because they provide the homeowner with a subtle yet stylish lighting option which can greatly vary in brightness depending the homeowner’s taste. Flush mounted foyer lighting presses right up against the ceiling to illuminate the room to the maximum effect. These lights are easy to install and should not take more than an hour. Alternatively, semi-flush lighting mounts to the ceiling and hangs down a few inches, placing it somewhere between a flush mounted light and a chandelier. Both types of foyer lighting are available in a multitude of different styles, so no matter how your home looks, there is a style to match.
