Home security is something that all of us should do. There are many devices out there that can help secure our homes. We can spend money to buy alarms, motion detectors, etc. but here's one that you should buy if you have kids at home.

And that is Internet Camera

An Internet Camera works like a CCTV camera, but it is connected to the Internet so that you can see your home at your office desk. The installation is, however, not so straight forward. You will need a power line that runs into the camera and so if you want to install an Internet Camera in a location that has no power socket, you may find yourself needing to hire an electrician to run the wire for you.

That itself can cost a lot more than the camera device so do consider this before you buy an Internet Camera.

However, if you are buying a new house and it is under a renovation, it will be easy because you can set the designated 'camera points'. This would be easier for you.

After installing the camera, you will need an Internet Router to 'get in touch' with the camera and set a password so that only YOU can use the camera, not anyone else.

The setting up of the router to the camera should be quite easy, depending on the type of router you have. If you have problems connecting, look for a technical friend or relative to help you setup. Of course, don't tell them the password, you should get it up yourself without letting them see it. :)

In conclusion, if you have kids at home and they are under the care of a foreign domestic helper, do consider getting an Internet Camera. It is better to be safe than sorry.
