How to Combat Basement Mold

Basement mold can ruin anyone’s fun when going to the basement. Watching movies, playing pool or darts, and sitting on the couch can cause a person to develop a rash, a headache, or have shortness of breath. Basement mold will inhibit people from using the basement. Many people cannot be exposed to mold for any length of time.

Mold affects people in different ways because there are many types of mold that can grow in a basement. Basement mold is caused by too much moisture that settles in the darkest corners of a basement. This mold can be deadly if not checked. This can be done by hiring a person to analyze the mold. Most basement mold is not deadly, but is not healthy to be around for a prolonged period of time. Mold can hurt the lungs and inhibit proper blood flow if too much is inhaled. People often have to go to the hospital and be monitored so that they do not go into cardiac arrest. They are given medication that helps  kill the mold that is inside their body.

Basement mold can be combated by buying a dehumidifier. This will keep humidity levels to a minimum. This will help keep mold from growing. Mold can usually be wiped away using a paper towel. To keep basement mold from being inhaled, one should wear a mask when cleaning mold. Using bleach will get help to remove any mold that cannot be removed with just a paper towel. Basement mold should be removed as soon as it is found since it can multiply and affect other areas in the basement.

Basement mold may continue to grow regardless of the precautions taken. This can be frustrating, but if the mold is contained, it won’t affect people as much when they are in the basement.
